Gregg Fort, Sports Consulting Partner, is the president of Fort Consulting, Inc., which acts as a sports facility partner with Hunden Strategic Partners. Established in 1999, Fort Consulting is a company specializing in affinity-based corporate partnership and capital facility development, NCAA Intercollegiate Athletics, and facility feasibility studies.
Some of his current and past clients include: University of Louisville (Papa John’s Stadium Expansion), Georgia State University (Football Feasibility Study), TSI Sports Group, NACDA Consulting, University of California-Riverside (Athletic Department Operational Review), Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville (Intercollegiate Athletic Re-Classification) and Toyota Park (Chicago). In addition to his 22 years in NCAA athletics, Fort currently serves as the Director of Corporate Relations for DePaul University.
The McKinney, Texas native previously served as the Executive Director of the Big Red Fund at the University of Illinois-Chicago. During his time with the UIC Flames, Fort instituted a new fund-raising and development plan that increased overall athletic giving by 143 percent to over $713,000 in 2006-07. Also, Fort served as the department’s liaison to the Chicago 2016 Olympic planning committee and developed feasibility plans for the upgrade and renovation of the UIC Pavilion and Les Miller Field.
Prior to his work at UIC, Fort served for three years as the Associate Athletic Director for external affairs at Florida International University in Miami. At FIU he:
Prior to his arrival at FIU, Fort served as the associate athletic director for external affairs at Stephen F. Austin State University. Fort began his nine-year tenure at SFA as the school’s sports information director in 1990 and also coordinated and directed the institution’s first comprehensive capital campaign. While at SFA, Fort developed the first campus-wide corporate partnership (Coca-Cola), supervised the Legacy Campaign that raised over $37 million and developed the Homer Bryce Stadium Pressbox renovation projected that included the sale of all suites and club seats.
A 1987 graduate of Austin (Texas) College, where he served four years as the sports information director, Fort’s intercollegiate experience also includes four years with Host Communications as the general manager at both the Texas Tech and San Jose State properties. Before joining Jim Host’s staff, Fort was selected to create the Lubbock Sports Authority for the city of Lubbock and serve as its first executive director. Fort is married to women’s college basketball coach Nicci Hays. Hays-Fort currently serves as an assistant to Doug Bruno at DePaul University.
